You've got a bird in your hand
You think it's from a land
Where castles made of sand
Don't melt away - (wait for the tide)

You open your hand to try
But the bird it wouldn't fly
You know the reason why?
Maybe too scared to go astray -
(the skies are too high)

There was a queen on the Nile
She managed to beguile
The boa for a while
Playing with the fire - (too late too late)

Because her husband Anthony
Was defeated on the sea
And she had to flee -
Gone was her empire - (cobras can wait)

No dream on earth
Will be put into action
Without having grown
Such roots that stand all storms

Some rocks don't roll
Everything in this world has its time
Some birds don't fly
Even wings of an eagle must grow

She was only seventeen
Searching for relief
In a world full of grief
Didn't want to stay - (too vain too vain)

So she went out on her own -
Sects, drugs, rock and roll -
Some guru grabbed her soul
And took her away - (never seen again)
